WILSHERE SHOULD GET NEW CONTRACT – KEOWN

Jack Wilshere is currently on loan to Bournemouth but is expected to return back to his parent club, Arsenal in lieu of the upcoming season. There is an uncertain air hanging over Wilshere’s future at the Emirates stadium with the new season just in sight.

This is especially as his spell with the Cherries in the 2016/17 season was far from convincing, and he had been besieged with a lot of injury problems. However, Martin Keown, Arsenal legend expects that Wilshere will be offered a new contract by Arsene Wenger upon his return to the club.

At Eddie Howe’s side, the 25-year old enjoyer more playing time. Whether Wenger was sufficiently impressed enough by his performance to give him back his space in the first team is yet to be seen. On his return from to the club and from injury, Wilshere will be facing stiff competition in the midfield from players like Aaron Ramsey, Granit Xhaka and Santi Carzola, which might help them all to give the performances necessary to push for the title – you can watch it all unfold infront of you, with tickets for 2017/18 now available through this site.

However, Keown believes Wilshere is a special talent and that he would certainly be retained in the team. “They certainly will offer him (Wilshere) a new contract,” Keown said. “We know Jack is a special talent. His injuries have marred his career. It must be tough for Arsene Wenger to watch. How many times has he broken ankles and had operations?” he added.

He also noted that Wilshere was a quality player but his health has been a major issue for him. He however believes that Wenger would somehow try to keep him and support him all the way.

The next season will see Wilshere’s contract with Arsenal expire. So he would be looking to save his Gunners career now or never. Wilshere is currently down with injury and is expected to miss the Gunners tour of Australia and China.
